Hurricane Matthew’s Aftermath – Cleanup and Damage (Video & Photos)
The Outer Banks beaches have been dealing with a large amount of unexpected flooding, and in many cases, areas that usually don't flood. The cleanup efforts are well underway. Reports of 3-6' of flooding were reported on the Northern Beaches all the way down to Hatteras Island. Currently, there are road & bridge closures that may require a photo ID or proof of employment to gain access. Food Pantries are in need of canned chicken, canned tuna, canned soup, bread, canned fruit, snacks (granola/fruit bars), peanut butter, jelly, chili with beans and anything you can think of that people can easily heat up. If you are in need of food, please makes sure you bring proof of Dare County residency and a photo ID. They are accepting donations for Rodanthe. They are in need of non-perishable food items, canned goods, dried goods, baby needs, cleanup items (gloves, bleach, trash bags, rakes, scrub brushes). Lifeline Outreach can also accept checks and cash deductible donations which benefits 100% of the amount to the community.
