On Wednesday, Mother Nature whipped up a nasty 35-45 mph wind during the passing of a storm that pretty much plowed the entire US continent. Snow, damaging tornadoes and strong lightning storms were wide spread and were not taken lightly across the nation. If you were here on the Outer Banks, more than likely the house that you were in shook as the winds kicked up a solid South swell. As a surfer, these are the elements that create the perfect morning after recipe. At 3:50am on Thursday, the Oregon Inlet Buoy reached 12.8 feet @ 9 seconds with a SSE direction. At sunrise, the wind was howling offshore. The pictures below were taken by local photographer icon Mickey 2M McCarthy on Hatteras Island and paint the perfect recipe that Mother Nature whipped up.
