Photo Gallery: “Surfing Winter Storm Jonas” – Brent Nultemeier
Winter Storm Jonas plowed through parts of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions last night with near-blizzard conditions. Record coastal flooding and winds over 70 mph in some coastal areas were no joke. With snow covering up all the media outlets, here on the Outer Banks is a different story. Yeah, we received plenty of wind and plenty of hype on the news but mostly we received a massive dumping of rain over night. Thanks to the wind, we’ve got a different story to tell. The surf jumped pretty quickly overnight and the wind started switching just enough offshore to make for some diamonds in the rough. A few brave souls paddled out and were hoping to be in the right place at the right time….and then there’s some luckier surfers with the jet ski assist who were able to take more of an advantage to today’s conditions. Here’s a few photos that were taken throughout the morning in-town (Kill Devil Hills & Nags Head). Noah Snyder, Raven Lundy and friends on the skis. Photos: Nultemeier
