Pics – Swell Event: Feb. 17, 2013

Much of the East coast was expecting snow, but for the Outer Banks, we got waves. As the storm system moved off the coast, it created a nice low pressure system that built a solid NNE swell targeting Buxton where much of the action went down. Early that morning, Diamond Shoals buoy read 11.5 feet at 8 seconds which tapered off to a nice ground swell, the water temps were mid 40’s and the air temps felt like the 20’s. On par for winter conditions on the Outer Banks. Photographer Mickey (2M) McCarthy (along with several other photographers) was there to brave the elements and snap a few shots.
