notes

Sunday: This morning Southeast swell is at 6 to 8ft on the open ocean and reaching our beaches here in town at chest to shoulder high. Swell direction is keeping the surf much smaller than the swell and beaches South of Oregon Inlet will show dramatic differences in surf size. Winds in the early morning are out of the WSW, but are expected to become light and variable onshore through the day. Looks like a good time to go surf, but there are no guarantees for later in the day. Check back in the afternoon for the next update. Thanks for checking obxsurfinfo.com.

NEW RODANTHE CAMERA
The Rodanthe cam is back up on a temporary view. We are still experiencing some technical difficulties, but we are able to provide limited functionality. Thanks for your patience,

forecast

Sunday: Swell from Ike is here and will continue for the next 3 to 4 days. Ike is now forecast to move between Cuba and Florida nd into the Gulf of Mexico. However, this forecast does not match historical trends in Hurricane paths. Based on current models we are forecasting swell to keep plenty of size, but gradually switch from the SE to the South through Wednesday and Thursday. Some Northeast swell potential exists for the mid to late part of next week. Other tropical developments have calmed down for now. Once again, there will be good surf if you catch the right beach with the right wind. Keep checking back for updates.

Disclaimer: All forecasts are based on weather data provided from multiple sources and are subject to change. When the weather changes, the surf changes. There is also a larger margin of error in the extended forecast. Please keep this in mind when planning your next surf trip. Forecasts are updated daily to catch any significant changes in the weather pattern.  Swell Direction and Swell Size are given for the open ocean within 30 miles of all Outer Banks beaches including the South facing beaches of Frisco.  Surf size is based on conditions specifically for Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk.  Remeber, swell direction may cause a large variation in surf size from one beach to the next.
