EVENT: Shut Down to Stand Up! (February 26)

On Feb. 26, close your doors to fight offshore drilling — then hop a bus to Raleigh to show BOEM that Outer Bankers mean business.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has proposed expanded offshore drilling in the Atlantic. This means North Carolina’s beaches, economy, and way of life are at risk. This is the ONLY Bureau of Ocean Energy Management meeting in North Carolina, please plan on attending to show your opposition. Join the Offshore Oil Coalition and travel to Raleigh on Monday, Feb. 26 to bring the power of the coast to Raleigh for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s public meeting. Your voice is needed to make a strong statement “NOT OFF OUR COAST” to the federal government’s new draft five-year lease plan for offshore oil and gas exploration, which would devastate our coastal economy, beaches, fishing and vital coastal tourism. To make it easier to get there, the Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks Chapter have chartered buses leaving from the coast to Raleigh for the meeting, which runs 3-7 p.m.
